I've actually bought other stair building books and this one's the best. Even though I am a licensed contractor and have been building custom stairs on new homes and while remodeling old ones, I'd definitely got my money's worth out of this book. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
A friend of mine recommended this book to me and I thought twice before buying it. I love building things in my spare time and get a lot of satisfaction from building my own stuff. I was planning on building a deck in our backyard, but didn't know the first thing about building outdoor deck stairs. I was skeptical at first like most people, but I'm here today writing this testimonial, for anyone who doesn't know the first thing about building stairs, you can do it, if I did it.
I had a few problems, understanding some of the drawings and made a couple of mistakes, cutting my stair stringers, but it wasn't long until I had finished the stairs. In the book, Greg says to follow the 17 1/2 inch stair rule. It works, I took his advice and measured a few stairways in our area and I have to say, it works and I used it. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. Thanks for everything and I'm looking forward to reading more of your books.
What a neat concept. Adding video links to a book that can be viewed on the Internet. Wow, Greg was right, if a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video must be worth a million words. I honestly thought that I was only going to have access to a few videos, but when you visit the video area, I couldn't believe the amount of videos he had made. I have personally watched almost every video and found most of them very informative. It's not just a regular book on how to build stairs, this book is new and innovative and looks like this could just be the beginning of a new type of book, for the future.
Thanks so much for your assist!
Spent my evening reading your 'manifesto, 'How to build... I see the light!
